Pune City Inter-College  Philosophy Conference on

“DIVINE AND HUMAN RELATEDNESS: CHALLENGES AND RESPONSES
22 January,  2010
 Jnana-deepa Vidyapeeth, Pune

Thematic Note:

Divine and Human Relatedness: Challenges and Responses

Social and personal relationships contribute to the growth of a nation. In a diverse country like India, relationships play a vital role, for they sustain social cohesiveness and enhance self-actualization. They give meaning to human existence and fulfillment.  In order to find greater meaning, relationships with the Divine are considered as essential helps. This is true in the case of our society that has religiosity and spirituality flowing into almost all spheres of life

But this does not ensure that the quality of life of the value and meaning of life has sufficiently been enhanced. In a world that is challenged with modern lifestyles and changing relationships, the philosophy of life seems to be changing. The value and dignity of human life is now dictated by ideologies, religious identities, secular and social titles and status, economic standing, etc.

In such a context, we would like to investigate through PHILOSOPHY OF RELIGION the various aspects of relationships among humans, and with the Divine. The challenges offered by various religious phenomena and the responses given, in today’s modern context will help us to look forward to an integrated world-view.

This conference will thus enable to identify some such challenges and responses offered by various elements of divine and human relatedness.

NOTICE: CALL FOR PAPERS

The Wesleyan Journal of Research is a multi-disciplinary, international, refereed, journal with the ISSN 0975-1386, published annually by Bankura Christian College. It was the cohesive, integrated force of the entire teaching staff that helped the college in realizing a long-cherished dream of publishing a quality research journal of its own. The journal appeared in the academic circle on June 29, 2008, the Foundation Day of the college. On the 29th day of June, 1903, the Wesleyan Mission College was established in Bankura (now in the state of West Bengal), India, with a lot of potential. The name of the college changed subsequently. Bankura Christian College as the name stands today was established under the aegis of the founder Principal, Rev. J. Mitchell. The name of the journal is a tribute to the Wesleyan Methodist missionaries, the key factor in the establishment of this 106 year old college.
