Scholars can bring their students to join the undergraduate competition and “Encounter India program”.

Undergraduates can submit papers for international competition. Best 2 papers selected will be awarded a discounted short trip inside India along with free tickets to cultural programs.

ESSENCE OF SAMAYASĀRA

(ISJS) are honoured to organize a Seven days ICPR workshop on Essence of Samayasāra at
Shri Atma Vallabh Jain Smarak Shikshan Nidhi, Alipur, Delhi from June 4th to 10th 2019.
BRIEF ON THE WORKSHOP
Samayasāra (samaya/soul+sāra/essence) or essence of the soul is the most revered text of
Jains. Ācārya Kundkunda is the foremost Philosopher and preceptor of Digambara Jains.
Amongst his many compositions, Samayasāra is also his foremost holy work. Ācārya Amrit
Chand of 8th century AD called Samayasāra as the unique and immortal eye to visualize the
trans-migratory world and nothing is more important in the world than Samayasāra.
Samayasāra is composed of ten chapters, namely: Jīva (the Soul); Ajīva (the Non- Soul); the
doer and the deed; Merit and Demerit; Influx of Karmas; Stoppage of Karma; Shedding of
Karmas; Bondage of Karmas; The Liberation; and The all Pure knowledge.
This is a residential workshop that will be conducted in English- Hindi in the serene ambience
of Shri Atma Vallabh Jain Smarak Shikshan Nidhi, Alipur, Delhi. The workshop intends to
engage the participants in deep study and contemplation of the subject.
Participants who are inquisitive, attached to some university/college/research institute as post
graduate/ PhD scholars/post-doctoral fellows/faculty members, to learn about Jain concept of
pure and bonded soul are encouraged to apply for attending the workshop at
seminar.icpr@gmail.com by May 20th 2019 latest. Travel from place of stay to Shri Atma
Vallabh Jain Smarak Shikshan Nidhi, Delhi and back, boarding lodging will be provided as per
ICPR norms. It is essential that selected participants stay in the workshop for full seven days.
