Theme : Vision for Humane Education
A humane society is composed of families living together in a relationship of mutual fulfillment. Such a society would make effort for a common, humane goal, which can be articulated as-

a) Happiness in every individual (through right understanding and right thought)
b) Prosperity in every family (through production of more than required physical facility by way of labour, using cyclic and mutually enriching natural processes)
c) Fearlessness in society (through clarity and practice of justice in human-human relationship)
d) Co-existence in nature/existence (through ensuring all processes are in harmony with the natural/existential laws)

The key is the development of right understanding and right thought in every individual by way of humane education; and, of course, the practice of living accordingly. As a whole, this can be called humane education. This is both, the expectation from as well as the responsibility of the parents/elders, teachers and responsible people/systems of the society.

If we see today, all three, parents/elders, teachers as well as society are unable to really reach out to the students. In spite of the many advances in global literacy levels, we are having to face terrorism and war on the one hand, and global warming and climate change on the other. The content of education as well as the process of education has to be reviewed. Is it leading to clarity or confusion; is it leading to the capacity to live in relationship or opposition; and is it leading to right use of physical facility or is it leading to a more and more individualistic lifestyle of indulgence, of accumulation of more and more in fewer and fewer? In this state, the key role has to be played by responsible teachers and initiative has to be taken by educational institutions. The purpose of this conference is to deliberate, to develop a vision for humane education required for a humane society; and to develop commitment for this much needed initiative.

This conference is especially for education policy makers, chancellors, vice chancellors, deans of the universities and other key decision makers in education. To know more download brochure
