The National Institute of Technology, Silchar with generous support form the Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD) is organizing a Global Initiative of Academic Networks (GIAN) course titled: Images as Modes of Knowledge, Social Practice and Affect, during 29 Nov-9 December 2017.

This course zeroes in on two specialized subfields within film/media studies: documentary studies and sexuality-gender issues. It seeks to historicize the shifts in the trajectory of the ‘committed documentary’ film away from Old-Left class-based utopia to a New-Left-driven social-movement confessionality and the post-war emergence of censor-shattering sexual discourses across the spectrum of visual genres in the contexts of both India and North America.
Professor Thomas Waugh, Concorida University, Canada will teach the course. We look forward to your participation. Please share this call with relevant individuals, organizations, and networks. Complete course details including registration information and the course outline is available here: http://www.gian.iitkgp.ac.in//files/brochures/BR1505389188brochure_TW.pdf
