APPLICATION FOR ICPR REFRESHER COURSE ON NYAYA
(from November 26 to  December 14, 2012)

The three week Refresher Course (November 26-December 14, 2012) will introduce the participating scholars to classical Nyaya philosophy based on original Sanskrit texts with the help of English translation and elucidation.  The first week will begin with a discussion of the seven categories (padarthas) followed by topics like the atomic theory, causality and the self.  After that perception (pratyaksa) as a source of  knowledge will be discussed.  The second week will be devoted mainly to inference (anumana).  The third and final week will be focused on testimony (sabda).   Selected portions of the Bhasaparicchedah of Vishvanatha with the auto-commentary Siddhantamuktavali will be discussed during the period.  Selections from the original texts of other early and late Nyaya philosophers (with English translation and elucidation) will be added occasionally.  References to relevant philosophical theories of other Indian schools as well as of western philosophers will be made as and when possible within the limited time.  The classes will be held from Monday to Friday from 10 A.M. to 1PM, and from 2P M to 5 PM.  The course will be directed by  Professor Kisor K. Chakrabarti and other eminent scholars of the subject will be Resource Persons.

Samvidh Psychological Services is an organization that has been working with children with learning disorder. Though the organization is based in Bangalore, it caters to the needs of children in several parts of the country. Samvidh runs an after-school remedial centre and a special school. The remedial programme offered combines current trends in neuroscience and aspects of child development. Team Samvidh consists of Special educators and Psychologists working side by side to help children with varying educational/psychological needs.

We at Samvidh are happy to announce its first ever workshop titled – Understanding brain behaviour relationships: a unique approach to specific learning disorder. The workshop aims at providing a unique insight into learning disorders from a neuropsychological perspective. It will consider the latest neuropsychological theories in the field of learning disorder and allow the professional to understand the reason for the heterogeneous presentation of the problem and how to approach it.
