The ICPR has been celebrating the International Philosophy Day every year during the third week of November to commemorate the birthday of Socrates as declared by the UNESCO. The Council gives grants to different universities to organize an academic event to hold seminar/workshop/colloquium/one-day meet at the regional level. This year ICPR has decided to select a few universities/institutions to organize International Philosophy Day by providing a grant of Rs.20,000/-.
The area of the deliberation /seminar may be one of the following:
(i) Interrelationship between Philosophy; Science and Culture;
(ii) Consciousness Research;
(iii) Philosophy of Education;
(iv) Future of Philosophy in the Modern World;
(v) Dialogue among Civilizations;
(vi) Determinism and Free will in Indian Philosophy;
(vii) Need of Philosophy as a core subject in School and Higher Education;
(viii) Philosophy of Man and environment;
(ix) Applied Philosophy; and
(x) Classical Indian Thought
The selected universities will be provided a grant of Rs.20,000/- for conducting this event. You are required to invite the faculty and students of neighouring universities and institutions offering course in philosophy and also students from other faculty interested in philosophy.
If you foresee that you may have to spend more, you may ask your organization/institution to support you for this. The ICPR will not be in a position to exceed the budget by sanctioning additional amount. Audited statement of account/original vouchers, photographs and report of the programme are the requisite documents to be submitted to the Council within one month after the completion of the programme.
Kindly send your proposals by 15th October 2009 positively. Any application received after the dead line will not be entertained.
